A chance meeting brings together two lonely girls who have been coping with their lives by keeping diaries: India's family is wealthy and she has many advantages, but her father has no time for her and she doesn't get along with her mother. Treasure lives in a council flat and is terrified she will have to return to live with her mother and brutish stepfather. Inspired by Anne Frank's diary, the girls plot to keep Treasure away from her stepfather.
